Healthy Kitchens Cooking Series

BSH-9810-F19 - Healthy Kitchens is a hands on cooking class designed by Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine at Tulane University. The course is taught by Dr. Beth Dollinger and medical students from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in conjunction with the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.

This is a 6-week, 2-hour per session cooking course for everyone from teenagers to senior citizens and is for all experience levels. The primary focus is to define "healthy eating" and to help participants develop their cooking skills. Each week includes approximately an hour of cooking (or a little more) and ends with sharing the meal prepared. During the meal time the participants discuss key concepts of nutrition and meal planning.

Learn how to make DELICIOUS and FLAVORFUL food, that just so happens to be good for you. You'll learn simple, healthful concepts to tie into your home kitchen while practicing basic cooking skills in a kitchen setting. This isn't limited to cooking, however; you'll also learn all the tools and techniques to effectively meal plan, shop, and eat on a budget. Together we will discuss how different foods and techniques can help you eat well, get healthy, and stay healthy! Even better, at the end of each class we get to eat all the delicious dishes we cook!
