Computer Information Technology -- Available only at the Coopers and Wildwood campuses

Computer Information Technology (CIT) is a two-year program that launches students into the fast and ever-changing computer industry. Candidates must possess strong skills in analytical thinking and interpersonal communication. During the two-year course, students will be introduced to many different aspects of the computer industry and college opportunities.

This is a hands-on computer repair, support technician and networking program that allows students the opportunity to build, repair and network computer systems. Students learn to install operating systems (Windows XP, Linux, etc.) and software. Ample equipment and software is available for each student to have an individual learning experience.

CIT is a CISCO Nationally Certified Networking and Computer Repair program. CISCO is an industry leader in the development, installment, provision and training of networking equipment and services. This course is also a certified ACE course for Corning Community College, offering three college credits for A+ Computer Repair and four college credits each for CISCO Exploration Networking and CISCO Exploration Routing.

Upon successful completion of this program, students typically go on to college to major in CISCO Networking and A+ Computer Repair. They also may learn server management and database management.

  • Be able to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Have strong reading and comprehension skills
  • Be able to process/calculate commencement level algebraic equations
  • Have a strong ability to think logically and sequentially
  • Possess fine motor skills

Wildwood Campus CIT students visit Rochester Institute of Technology

CIT students at the Wildwood campus visited Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall of 2010. The CIT students and their instructor, Molly Murphy, met with:

  • David Schwartz, an RIT professor at the Deparment of Interative Games and Media, and
  • Sylvia Perez-Hardy, an RIT professor at the School of Informatics.

After meeting with the professors for an overview of their programs, students toured the Information and Technology Services Computer Room.
