AUTO BODY
Students completing the Auto Body program will have the opportunity to become a competent, entry-level repairperson in the auto body field or to pursue continuing education at one of many nationally recognized, post-secondary educational institutions.Students learn to safely and competently restore a vehicle to its original condition. This repair will correct body deterioration due to age or collision damage. Students will develop skills in estimating, surface preparation, body fillers, metal repair, washing and waxing procedures, plastics repair, sand blasting, torches, MIG welding, plasma cutters, siphon feed and HVLP spray painting equipment, pin-striping, chip guarding, various types of automotive primers, sealers and paints, and job seeking and keeping skills. Related trade knowledge is acquired through the use of computerized research, parts manuals, trade publications, crash manuals, estimation and frame specifications, and costs associated with the auto body industry.
Student will continuously be developing skills that align with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and Inter-Industry Conference in Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) which are nationally recognized professional organizations. At the completion of the two year program students will take a written and performance test developed by the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI).
