New Visions Programs
Engineering Immersion - Available at Coopers Campus OnlyStudents interested in New Visions are typically accelerated college-bound seniors who wish to pursue a career in engineering. This advanced-level, one-year course allows you to spend half of your school day at an actual work site exploring careers in media communications while working toward senior academic credit. Your classroom time will be supplemented with local on-site rotations. Classes meet each school day from 8-11 a.m.

Students will be assigned to several long-term rotations (two or four) based on their particular field of interest. They become part of a team project with assigned duties and expectations and will prepare a presentation for the other New Visions Engineering students and mentors at the end of each rotation. Current rotation sites include Corning Inc. Sullivan Park Research Facility and Erwin Plant, Dresser-Rand, Hunt Engineering and Sear Brown.
New Visions integrates English, Economics, Participation in Government and career exploration, for which you can receive four credits (1 English, .5 Economics, .5 Participation in Government and 2 Occupational Education).
New Visions students develop career plans and integrated projects based on knowledge acquired and documented through experiential learning. They learn to use proper terminology, relate academic subjects to professions studied and conduct themselves in the safe, professional manner expected in their chosen fields.
Prior New Visions Engineering students have used this program as a springboard to earn paid internships at many of their rotation sites (please note there is no guarantee of a paid positions, which are awarded based on student initiative and company need). In addition, students have gone on to receive engineering degrees from RIT, Buffalo State, Alfred University, Virginia Tech, Clarkson, Penn State, Messiah College and many others.
