New Visions Programs
Medical - Coopers and Wildwood Campuses Only

Students interested in New Visions are typically accelerated college-bound seniors who wish to pursue a career in health care. This advanced-level, one-year course allows you to spend half of your school day at an actual work site exploring careers in the wide range of health care settings while working toward senior academic and college credit. Classes meet each school day from 8-11 a.m. Your classroom time will be supplemented with rotations in local hospitals and medical offices.

This course is designed to provide students with opportunities to study basic medical concepts and investigate areas of interest through job shadowing experiences. Students earn eight college credits in Anatomy and Physiology from Alfred University and two college credits in Word and Excel from Corning Community College.

The Anatomy and Physiology elements of this program are accepted as fulfilled requirements at many schools, providing an advantage in course work and financial savings. New Visions integrates English, Economics, Participation in Government and career exploration, for which you can receive four credits (1 English, .5 Economics, .5 Participation in Government and 2 Occupational Education).

Past students have gone on to study at undergraduate colleges including University of Rochester, RIT, St. John Fisher, LeMoyne, Syracuse, Dartmouth, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Albany. Medical schools attended by graduates include University of Rochester, Upstate Medical, University of Buffalo, Pitt and Hershey.

New Visions students develop career plans and integrated projects based on knowledge acquired and documented through experiential learning. They learn to use proper terminology, relate academic subjects to professions studied and conduct themselves in the safe, professional manner expected in their chosen fields.
