Internet Services

GST BOCES Computer Services offers a full Internet Service which includes: content-managed Internet access for educational purposes to all workstations, support for email, listserv, and browser software, creation and hosting of listservs, web page development for district web and intranet sites, support for teacher/classroom web sites and projects, development of web-based applications.

Content Management

The GST BOCES Internet Team uses the Netspective Webfilter to provide Internet filtering. You can learn more about Netspective at http://www.verso.com/enterprise/netspective/index.asp.

Listservs

The GST BOCES Internet Team hosts listservs for facilitating the sharing of information within district, regional, and NYS user groups.

Web Page Development

The GST BOCES Internet Team develops official web pages for schools, school districts, services and programs within the BOCES region. Web sites can include any kind of online media and document formats.

Web-based Applications

The GST BOCES Internet Team can develop dynamic data-driven web sites for all sorts of program needs from simple web-based surveys to complex software for real-time collaboration online.

IDEAS

Instructional Development of Educational Applications Services (IDEAS) is a unique service of GST BOCES Computer Services. It was developed to create web-based applications that enhance instruction. The applications are designed based on the needs and with lots of input from classroom teachers. Some of the IDEAS applications that have been very successful are Teacher’s Digital Toolbox, QuizMaker/QuizTaker, ReadToMe, and MapSter.

IDEAS most recent application is called Toolbox Pro. It provides teachers and students with an online classroom interface for instruction, communication, discussion and assessment. It also allows the teacher to create a classroom website and curriculum maps.
