GST BOCES Adult Education and Career Services serves adult students in the Southern Tier of New York State and the surrounding region. Whether you're interested in training for a new career, earning your high school diploma or looking for a new hobby, we have a course that will meet your needs. We also offer computer training and on-site, customized courses to meet the needs of local business and industry.
We have three convenient locations: the Bush Campus in Elmira, the Coopers Campus in Painted Post and the Wildwood Campus in Hornell.
Any prospective student is welcome to visit the institution prior to registering for any program.
60 Hour Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
Prerequisite-Must be 21 years of age for class A or 18 years of age for class B, have a valid driverâ€™s license,
and must have passed the DOT physical exam and have CDL Permit prior to the first day of class. Experience driving standard shift recommended.
The student will complete a 60-hour course, which includes 20 hours of classroom and range training.
There will be 40 hours of highway and city driving instruction. You will learn about Safety Rules, Air
Brakes, Tractors/Trailers, Coupling/Uncoupling, Driving Techniques, Vehicle Inspection, The Log Book and
Hazardous Materials. This course provides full preparation for the Department of Motor Vehicle road test,
which will be taken with GST BOCES tractor-trailer.
Class begins 9/17/20 with a mandatory online meeting at 6 PM. A link will be sent on 9/17/20.
Class will be held online from 4 to 8 PM on 9/21/20-9/24/20.
Then 1:1 drive time for 40 hours scheduled with the instructor.
Must have DOT physical and permit before the start of class.

GST BOCES' accreditation from COE has been reaffirmed!
The Council on Occupational Education (COE) took formal action to continue its accreditation of GST BOCES on June 4,2020. The next site visit will be completed in 2024.
"Reaffirmation denotes that an institution has maintained quality programs, again undergone an extensive self-study and team review process, and has continued to meet the Commission's Standards and Conditions for Accreditation. Accreditation is granted annually with subsequent reaffirmation scheduled for two to six years. Each institution must substantiate its accreditation each year through an annual report which reflects the current status of the institution."
The council offers quality assurance service to postsecondary workforce education providers across the country.
COE accreditation allows participating BOCES programs to be eligible to receive Title IV Financial Aid.

Students complete Accelerated Machinist Partnership Program
Five adult students recently graduated from the Accelerated Machinist Partnership (AMP) Program at GST BOCES. Graduates were Jacob Hostrander, Avram Liebson, David Houghton, Stanley Jerzak (not pictured) and Andrew Stermer.
AMP was developed by GST BOCES Adult Education and Career Services, CSS Workforce NY and WDI (Workforce Development Institute) at the request of local employers. The program offers an enhanced machining program to adult students in the area that includes 440 hours of classroom instruction at GST BOCES and 280 hours of hands-on experience at local businesses.
