This two-year Machine Trades program will prepare students for entry-level jobs in a variety of manufacturing opportunities and provide a fantastic foundation for students looking to enter the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering fields. The goal of this program is to help students develop both the theory knowledge on machining as well as hands-on skills in a “real world” learning environment. First year students can expect to learn foundational skills, such as, blueprint reading, precision measurement, working with tools and equipment such as band saws, grinders, and drill press. Students will also learn how to perform manual machining on lathes and mills by doing project-based activities. In their second year of this program, students will expand on their current machine operation skills and learn CNC lathe configuration and CNC mill configuration. Students will also have the opportunity to visit local businesses to see and speak with employees working in this occupation as well as an internship with a local company.
