Mr. Richmond and his New Visions Innovation, Leadership and Business students built relationships and arranged sponsors to fly in former FDIC Chair, Sheila Bair, into the Southern Tier, to read her www.moneytalesbooks.com, to area third graders.
The books teach basic financial literacy skills through fun stories, with creative characters. The back of each book has a parent section, to continue the education of their children. New Visions students set up the entire day. Sheila visited Cohen, Ridge Road, Tuscarora and Severn elementary schools. Students at each school were given a free book (paid for by sponsors) and each library received an autographed set of her 8 books. Over 250 students went home with a book. ILB students also organized a business luncheon where Sheila met and spoke to area business leaders.
