NYS Superintendent Development Program Sets New Participation Record for 2026 Cohort

Painted Post, NY — January 2026 — Greater Southern Tier BOCES is proud to announce a new participation record for the 2026 New York State Superintendent Development Program (SDP), with 55 registered associates—the largest cohort in the program’s history.

This milestone reflects growing statewide interest in superintendent preparation and the increasing demand for high-quality, practice-driven leadership development for New York’s public schools. The 2026 cohort brings together aspiring superintendents and district-level leaders from across the state, representing a wide range of district contexts and experiences.

“We are thrilled to see such strong participation in the 2026 program,” said Stacy Saglibene, GST BOCES District Superintendent. “This record-setting cohort underscores both the complexity of the superintendent role today and the value educators place on rigorous preparation, mentorship, and collaboration.”

In addition to celebrating record enrollment, program leaders highlighted the SDP’s partnership with Binghamton University, which provides academic grounding, research-informed leadership perspectives, and graduate-level alignment to the program. This partnership strengthens SDP’s mission to blend theory with real-world application, ensuring associates are well-prepared to lead school districts through complex instructional, operational, and community challenges.

The Superintendent Development Program is widely recognized across New York State for its cohort-based design, experienced faculty, and emphasis on ethical, student-centered leadership. Participants engage in 11-months of intensive seminars, mentoring, and applied learning experiences aligned to the realities of district leadership.

The 2026 cohort officially launches January 9, 2026, marking another step forward in building a strong, diverse pipeline of future superintendents for New York State.
