The Greater Southern Tier BOCES Career and Technical Education Program at the Bush Campus in Elmira extends a heartfelt thank you to our incredible business and industry partners for supporting our students during this year’s Business & Industry Interview Day.
We were proud to welcome 75 professionals from 55 local businesses who volunteered their time and expertise to conduct simulated interviews with senior students enrolled in 13 different CTE programs. Your participation gave students a powerful, real-world learning experience that simply cannot be replicated in the classroom alone.

On April 1st, Blake cashed in 20 of his tickets for a one-of-a-kind incentive: Mr. Nicholson rocked a do-rag for the entire day! 😄
But the fun doesn’t stop there… other students are setting their sights high and racing toward 100 tickets before June for an even bigger reward—the chance to shave or dye Mr. Nicholson’s hair! 🎨✂️

New Visions Engineering students on the Wildwood Campus had an incredible opportunity to visit Lakelands Concrete Products in Lima, NY, where we got an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the facility. From start to finish, it was a hands-on experience that brought engineering to life!
During our visit, Jacob, design engineer shared insights into his role, walking students through CAD drawings and even showcasing 3D-printed components used in real projects. Students also got to see the impressive process of moving massive concrete walls and watching concrete being poured into molds—something you don’t get to see every day!
It was exciting for students to connect what they’re learning in the classroom to real-world applications, ask questions, and explore potential career paths in engineering.
We had a fantastic day leading into break! A huge thank you to Stacy, Jacob, and the team at Lakelands Concrete Products for welcoming us, sharing your expertise, and inspiring our students by showing them another side of what engineers can do. 👏

New Visions students in the Bush Campus Chapter of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), attended the NYS Leadership Conference March 18-20. The group brought home 8 Gold medals and 5 Silver medals for their STAR event projects. Eight students, along with their advisor-Kelly Smith, will represent NYS at the National Leadership Conference in Washington, DC in July, including Jacqueline Mayotte who submitted an online project and ranked in the top 20 of the nation, earning her a spot at nationals as well. This week, about 20 of our team members rolled up their sleeves and learned how to adapt toys so they can be activated with a switch—opening the door to play for students who can’t use traditional push‑button toys.
Huge thanks to Cornell Assistive Technologies, who guided us through every step, provided all the materials, and even sent us home with the toys we adapted! Their team also brought along several prototype adapted grasps for writing utensils, giving us the chance to try them out and offer feedback.
This collaboration has been such a meaningful partnership—one that’s already making a difference in accessibility, creativity, and student engagement. 💡💛

New Visions Health and New Visions Engineering on the Wildwood Campus partnered for an engaging visit to LifeNet, where students explored real-world applications through hands-on experiences with trauma kits and patient incubation procedures.
They also gained valuable insight into the aviation side of emergency response, making this a well-rounded and memorable learning experience.
