The GST RIC implemented NYSERNET recently. NYSERNet (New York State Education and Research Network) is a non-profit Internet Service Provider in New York State. It mainly provides Internet access to universities, colleges, museums, health care facilities, primary and secondary schools, and research institutions. NYSERNET offers a Content Delivery Network (CDN) for major providers such as Microsoft, Google, Apple, Amazon Web Services to alleviate need access the internet outside of the CDN. Peering with these providers and/or hosting their content servers inside NYSERNET CDN can improve performance and offload traffic from commercial Internet connections, providing a better experience at a lower cost. The region benefits greatly from the internet access provided by our GST RIC. #PROUDTOBEGST

Students in Kathy Loven's science classes at the Bath host site recently worked on a STEM project in which they used the Engineering Design Process to create a structure that could withstand an earthquake simulation. Students had to first create a shake box that would simulate the earthquake. They then created structures using a combination of toothpicks, mini marshmallows, and clay. The structure had to be at least one foot tall and fit inside the shake box. A structure was successful if it could withstand one minute in the shake box. #PROUDTOBEGST
