💰 Mad City Money Workshop Recap – Presented by ServU
Our students recently had the opportunity to participate in the Mad City Money presentation from ServU, and it was an engaging and eye-opening experience!
During this interactive workshop, students explored where a typical paycheck goes, including essential expenses like rent, car payments, and food, along with everyday costs such as clothing and entertainment. Through hands-on activities, they were able to step into real-life budgeting scenarios and make financial decisions based on their “assigned” monthly income.
💡 Students learned:
How quickly expenses can add up
The importance of budgeting and planning
How to prioritize needs vs. wants
Strategies for making the most of their money
This experience helped build important life skills and gave students a better understanding of financial responsibility. We’re grateful to ServU for providing such a meaningful and practical learning opportunity!

Our GST BOCES District II Drone Soccer League teams' Road to Nationals concluded Tuesday at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where our teams faced the best of the best in national competition and delivered outstanding performances.
We are incredibly proud of what these students have accomplished in just two years since the inception of our league. Owego Red placed 5th in the nation, Bath Haverling followed closely in 6th place, and Spencer-Van Etten finished 11th out of 24 total teams.
Beyond the results, our students earned individual awards, built new friendships, grew as leaders and innovators, and shared a memorable experience with their families. Their hard work and dedication truly stood out on the national stage.

Wildwood Campus Cosmetology students volunteered at a recent Girls on the Run event, staffing the event’s Happy Hair Station. There, students offered free hairstyling—braids, ponytails, colorful hair ties, and light accessories—to the young participants before the race. They helped dozens of girls feel ready and excited by quickly styling hair to stay neat during running.

🌲 Bush Campus FFA Students Compete at State Level 🌲
Bush Campus FFA students recently traveled to Buffalo to participate in the New York State FFA Forestry Competition, showcasing their skills in a highly competitive field of more than 20 teams from across the state.
While final team standings are still pending—with only the top three teams announced at the event—our students performed exceptionally well.
👏 Congratulations to Colin, a junior from Horseheads High School and student in the Conservation class at GST BOCES, who earned an impressive 7th place overall in the state for Forestry (individual)! Colin’s high individual score also contributed significantly to his team’s performance.

🏅 Top Honors:
Emmaly Heck & Lizzie Howlett earned 3rd place in the state with their Animal Systems Agriscience Fair Project.
Lora Stephens & Arianna Schehr also brought home 3rd place for their Food Production & Technology Agriscience Fair Project.
Samantha Bills achieved 1st in the state with her Secretary Book! (Special shoutout to Aryana Swarthout for stepping in to accept the award on her behalf.)
Emmaly Heck had an incredible showing, also earning 1st in the state for her People in Agriculture Prepared Speech! 🎤
Beyond the competitions, students had the chance to celebrate their hard work with a visit to a trampoline fun park—because a little fun is well deserved after big accomplishments! 🎉
