At the latest Working Worlds for Educators 2025 session, we got an inside look at the essential work of the Town of Erwin Water and Sewer Department. Chief Operator Jim Brarens walked us through the vast reach of their services using detailed maps and shared exciting career paths available in water and wastewater management. The real eye-opener? A visit to the Wastewater Treatment Plant, where Jim and his longtime colleague Charlie Taylor gave us a hands-on tour of the facility. This past week, Coopers Campus SkillsUSA and Heavy Equipment students officially broke ground on the Lillee’s Pad project at Savona Village Park! 🎉 This 1,200 sq. ft. splash pad is set to make waves when it opens in the summer of 2025! 🌞 Our students are getting hands-on experience in real-world job skills, tackling everything from site prep, layout, and plumbing to drainage installation, carpentry, and heavy equipment operation. They’re also sharpening their abilities in surveying, safety procedures, and even design work—skills that will set them up for success in their future careers! The Career Development Council’s Working Worlds for Educators 2025 second session was an unforgettable experience at Sunset View Creamery, nestled in the scenic hills of Odessa, New York. Our incredible host, Jess Hoffman, didn’t just talk about agriculture—she brought it to life! From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in the world of farming. We met adorable two-day-old calves, explored an immaculate barn that keeps multiple cow breeds happy and healthy, and witnessed cutting-edge technology that monitors livestock health in seconds. And, of course, no visit would be complete without a taste of farm-fresh goodness! We indulged in handcrafted cheeses and sipped on mocha, maple, and strawberry milk, straight from the Creamery’s Farm Store. ✨ Kicking Off Working Worlds for Educators 2025 with Creativity & Inspiration! 🎨 The Career Development Council launched our Working Worlds for Educators 2025 programming with an inspiring start at People’s Place Gallery in Elmira, hosted by Mike Houghton, and at Community Arts of Elmira, led by President Lynne Rusinko. 🎭 Mike Houghton shared personal insights on what it takes for students to pursue a career in the arts—what he calls the “one percent”! His advice?
