🍎 Advocacy in Action: A Seat at the Table 🏛️ Our Food Services Director recently had the unique opportunity to meet privately with Senator Chuck Schumer at the Corning Food Pantry. This roundtable—also attended by the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and Cornell Cooperative Extension—wasn’t about press coverage. It was about real stories, real challenges, and real impact. The Senator came to listen and learn—specifically about the potential hurdles surrounding school meals as Congress debates the upcoming reconciliation bill. We were proud to represent our students and speak on behalf of the vital role nutrition plays in academic success. ✅ We discussed: School meal funding The real-life impact of federal nutrition programs The importance of continued support at the legislative level Senator Schumer encouraged us to keep advocating and stay in close contact with our Congressional reps as the bill moves forward. We’ve already invited him to visit a school cafeteria and see the difference these programs make—every single day. Advocacy matters. Our voices help shape policy.
